Tesla customers impacted by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred

At Zurich, we are working hard to support our InsureMyTesla customers affected by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

Our priority is your safety and supporting you as quickly as possible during this challenging time.

We are working with Tesla Body Repair Centres and our Authorised Repairer Network to assist you as soon as we can access the affected areas.

How to Make a Claim

  • Ensure your car is switched off, disconnected from the charger, and the charger is switched off from the power/isolation switch
  • Do not try to connect to your car via the app at any point during or after the cyclone, as this will activate the battery
  • If you store e-bikes, e-scooters, or other lithium-ion battery-powered tools near your car or home, where possible move these items out of the reach of floodwater to minimise risk of fire and injury
  • Do not try to connect to your car via the app at any point during or after the cyclone, as this will activate the battery
  • If your car has any water damage, do NOT charge, activate, or drive it
  • Submit your claims as soon as possible online
  • Our claims team will guide you through the process from here

Rarely, lithium-ion batteries that have been in contact with flood water can catch fire. Be aware of these early warning signs:

  • Loud popping noises
  • Hissing and whistling sounds
  • Large clouds of gas that may appear like smoke

If you observe any of these warning signs:

  • Immediately evacuate the area
  • Call the Fire Service on 000 and inform them of a lithium-ion battery fire
  • Do not attempt to extinguish the battery fire yourself

We understand these are difficult times, and we are here to support you every step of the way.
